SPECIFICATIONS SONY VAIO P SERIES

SPECIFICATIONS SONY VAIO P SERIES

Early last year, Sony launched the netbook world for a loop when the original was published in the series VAIO P. With a unique and compelling design 1.4 pounds and a high resolution 8.9-inch, 1600 x 768-pixel screen, the P original novel device, but its poor performance and short battery life makes it difficult to justify price from $ 999. Now Sony has added some notable features, improved performance, increased storage and lowered the price by $ 100, worth a look. However, this device is worth $ 899 niche?

Design
Factor uniquely VAIO P is for now, his greatest asset. At 9.7 x 4.7 x 0.8 inches, the Vaio P is small enough to fit a woman's purse or pocket of a man long coat. And at 1.4 pounds, weighs half a netbook, however, has a full-size keyboard that is suitable for typists.

If you are familiar with the original P-series, you will notice that the most noticeable design difference is the color. While the original Q had a metal keyboard cover with class and good taste in the colors of the cover as the Red and Black Onyx Garnet, the new P has a plastic keyboard cover and matching cap and comes in shades neon pink color, like lime green and hot. Conservative black and white colors are also available.

Keyboard and pointing devices
For a notebook this small, the VAIO P provides a fairly large 88 percent of full-size keyboard with plenty of space between the keys. The right Shift key is a bit small, but the real problem of the keyboard is its rigidity and the complete lack of a palm rest. Despite these drawbacks, the generous key spacing and size allowed us to achieve our typical 80 words per minute in the Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor test, albeit with a slightly higher error rate of 2 percent. Although the VAIO P is small enough to maintain and use up, your keyboard is too big for the thumb write-only.

The VAIO P offers two different pointing devices. A pointing device is in the middle of the keyboard and allows users to navigate without taking your fingers on home row. We thought the comfortable texture and impeccable precision pointing device Sony is similar to waypoints famous Lenovo.

The screen cover on the right is a perfect little square touchpad for navigation while you are holding the system in air (for example, when you're standing). Left and right buttons are located on the left side of the frame. We found that, while the touchpad is less accurate than the pointing device, which was more than adequate for launching programs, surf the Internet, or videos of control.

Heat
Because it is so small parts of the VAIO P heat up during use. After a video stream on the web in full screen for 15 minutes, the keyboard was measured at 96 degrees Fahrenheit and lower to 97 degrees. The area below the spacebar recorded in a cool 86 degrees. We consider temperatures above 95 degrees to be uncomfortable, so it was just over the border.
